Normally, the prison of a trauma induced coma is bad enough, but for Ronald Whitfield waking up from his nightmare of solitude leads to a paranoid hell with twists and turns behind every door guiding him to a truth more stunning that he can possibly imagine. Between the Lines, the debut novel of Mississippi author Randy Tatum, explores the terrifying challenges of rejoining the world after a lengthy absence from consciousness and reconnecting with the one he loves. The main character Ronald Whitfield awakes from his somnolence to find his loving wife and aims to put their marriage back together. He slowly struggles to overcome his muscular atrophy in physical therapy sessions, where his therapist accidentally plants a seed of doubt as to his wife's loyalty. Shortly thereafter Ronald begins experiencing intense headaches and hallucinations of an old man that appears to Ronald throughout his recovery. Eventually, the old man becomes Ronald's ethereal guide leading Ronald to the truth about his wife, and Ronald's own existence. -Wesley Yates
