Bengaluru Pete (Kannada: ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಪೇಟೆ) which was established by Kempegowda I (c. 1510-1570) in 1537 with roads laid in cardinal directions, with entrance gates at the end of each road is an integral part of the present day Bangalore city (Bengaluru Mahanagara Kannada: ಬೆಂಗಳೂರು ಮಹಾನಗರ) and has three taluks namely, Anekal, Bangalore North and Bangalore South.
