Ben Jonson and the Classical School is a book written by Felix E. Schelling that explores the life and works of the English playwright and poet, Ben Jonson. The book focuses on Jonson's relationship with the classical tradition, particularly his engagement with the works of ancient Greek and Roman writers. Schelling examines Jonson's use of classical themes, characters, and forms in his plays and poetry, and shows how Jonson was influenced by the humanist education he received in his youth. The book also discusses Jonson's place in the larger context of the English Renaissance and his contributions to the development of English drama. Overall, Ben Jonson and the Classical School is a comprehensive study of one of the most important figures in English literature and his relationship to the classical tradition. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
