Scott Caldwell's mother said his father died in the Vietnam War, but when Scott discovers that this was a lie, he embarks on a personal journey to answer the questions raised by his mother's deceit. In the process Scott is thrust into a world he never knew existed. As his father's story unfolds Scott learns the dark history of a warrior who seemed to vanish from the face of the earth and the secrets that were never meant to be known.
Set in 2017 the novel introduces those who knew Scott's father from 1964 until 1977, the year Ed Caldwell suddenly disappeared. The more Scott learns about his father, the less he seems to know as he wades through a psychological swamp of good and evil, hope and despair, and the shades of grey that colored the Vietnam Era and destroyed men's souls.
