This is a simple picture book for young children. The story is about a 3-year old girl who tries to stall bedtime. She uses all the tricks that are so familiar to parents as many children try the same tricks. She asks for something to drink, to eat, another book and another hug. She thinks she needs these to fall asleep but actually all she needs to do is lie down and close her eyes and sleep will come. When she realizes that she does actually feel tired, she decided to close her eyes and manages to fall asleep, all by herself. Elina goes on to dream about being a mermaid.
The book uses vibrant illustrations that are relatable to young children and will help them connect the story to their own lives. Within each illustrated page, there are hidden details that can help parent and child talk about the story and what they see, such as Elina's pets that are hidden on each page.
The story itself is written in simple form, to be understandable for young children and good for early learners and beginning readers.
