Shanna is nine years old and spending Christmas in the hospital. Like many children fighting serious illness, she dreams of simple things-playing outside, laughing with friends, and seeing snow fall on Christmas Day.
But something magical happens when Shanna looks out her hospital window on Christmas Eve.
A sleigh streaks across the sky, leaving shimmering clouds behind. Soon colorful tinsel rain begins to fall, turning into bouncing gumdrops, soaring butterfly clouds, and finally the most wonderful surprise of all-soft, marshmallowy snowflakes!
Shanna gathers the other children from the hospital, and together they step into a world of imagination where wheelchairs, walkers, and IV poles don't matter. In that moment they aren't sick kids-they're kids who can laugh, play, and celebrate the magic of Christmas.
Filled with warmth, wonder, and beautiful illustrations, Butterfly Clouds and Marshmallow Snow is a heart-touching story about:
hope during difficult times
friendship and shared joy
the healing power of imagination
the magic of Christmas
Inspired by real children who face illness with courage, this uplifting picture book reminds us that sometimes the greatest gift of all is hope.
Perfect for ages 4-9, families, teachers, and hospital libraries.
