After-school student Samuel, like many other youths, loves to feel like part of something. Mr. Jackson, the after-school bus driver, is more than just a driver: he has an incredible rapport with his students, going above and beyond to give each of them a sense of belonging and responsibility.
When Samuel agrees to take on the role of bus monitor, his main duty is to walk the bus daily, ensuring that every student exits on time and waking up any classmates who may have fallen asleep. But one day, Samuel falls asleep himself and fails to perform his duty.
Rather than reprimand him, Mr. Jackson demonstrates the best qualities of an adult by gently reminding Samuel that no one is perfect. He assures Samuel with kindness and empathy that it s okay to make mistakes, and that failure is part of learning and growing.
The Bus Monitor is a heart-warming and uplifting tale that highlights the importance of kindness, understanding, and empathy especially in moments when they are most needed. This story encourages building others up instead of tearing them down, making it an inspiring read for all ages.
