He married my sister before I was born, and they lived in the house just up the hill past the fruit orchard and garden and our farm house. He played a harmonica, whistled, and sang, and he wrote poetry. They gardened together, fed birds, especially the hummingbirds, and they watched wildlife from their backyard. His poem called My Visit was the one he made many copies of and gave to everyone he met. From adding on to their house and having two little girls and to her Parkinson's diagnosis and beyond, they were always together, my big sister and my brother-in-law!
