Introduction to Broken Vocal Cord Music:
When I was like 20 years old, my voice went away. I had finished a tour with my band, and any time I spoke above a whisper, I lost my voice. Doctors put a camera up my nose and down my throat and decided that I had strained my vocal cords. Well, that was that.
So I went to college. Became a teacher. Became a husband. Became a dad. Became an author. Made some music somewhere in there, but not very much. And just continued my journey, whatever that was.
So here we have some poems I've written over the last 15 or so years, most written within the last five.
This was a dream for me. When I was a kid, I wanted to grow up to be a poet. Like as a job. Then in my teens, I wanted to be in a band and tour. Now I just want to make my broken vocal cord music and keep doing whatever it is I do.
I hope you enjoy it.
With Love,
Mike
