Broken Soup is not a cookbook or even a selection of recipes.
It is one woman's journey of breaking free from an abusive relationship and learning how to live on the other side. Through journal entries and poetry, the book traces her journey through the heartache of realizing that she herself was a victim of abuse and that her marriage was broken to learning how to stand on her own. She shares her deepest moments of heartbreak, rage, depression, loss, fear and courage as well as encouragement to others who may be feeling trapped and alone in similar situations.
Through Broken Soup, we see that the soul pushes us to keep going even in the darkest moments, that healing is a never-ending process and love never really dies. Rather it evolves with us as we grow in our life journeys and our journeys are always relentlessly forward facing.
About the Author
Faith Yanai was raised in the Pacific Northwest but moved to Japan in the 1980's. Moving from Seattle to the teeming metropolis of Tokyo opened her eyes to the vastness and diversity of the world in ways that books, TV and movies could not. Faith spent 30 years in Japan raising a family while working as a translator and writer. Faith attributes much of her personal growth to learning how to bridge and work with the differences in cultures, value systems and languages that she encountered in Tokyo. Although Faith relocated to the US in 2017 her love of Japan and the Japanese culture remain deeply rooted in her heart.
Faith's love of writing, especially poetry, has always been a large part of her life and has been her vehicle for processing life challenges and healing her heart.
