Riley, along with his brothers and cousins love to spend every summer hiking through the Palisades State Park overlooking the Upper Mississippi River and just north of the small town of Savanna, Illinois. While every year the park seems to be more and more beautiful, each summer undoubtedly holds more adventure than the one before. However, little do the boys know, this summer would be much more dangerous than any other one they ever had! Growing up in the small town of Savanna, Illinois, Riley, his brothers, and his sister stumble through a series of exciting adventures and more near misses than they would like. With only themselves to rely on, Riley and company must be able to avoid near-certain tragedies while en route to the greatest summer of their lives. An exciting tale filled with adventure, The Boys from Savanna is a delightful children's novel that takes young readers on a trip through the sometimes harrowing events of growing up. Its lovable characters and exaggerated events make it an enormously appealing novel for any child to read. Riley and company's adventures through childhood make for an entertaining look at the innocent mischievousness of youth and a peak into the over-embellished drama that children concoct in their vastly imaginative ways. With humor, excitement, and thrilling adventure, author Dr. Robert Steven Drake creates a fantastic children's novel perfect for capturing the hearts and minds of young readers everywhere. A series of adventures that could come straight out of a modern Huckleberry Finn tale, the events in The Boys from Savanna have the innocent sense of danger and adventure of children who love to inadvertently get into escapades just by being themselves. Riley and his companions' explorations and near tragedies are exciting and pure entertainment that all children can relate to. Its colorful story, endearing characters, and humorous approach to the adolescent adventures of childhood make this a heartwarming and thrilling novel that teaches all children that they can always make their own fun and adventures.
