The Boss of Wind River is a Western novel written by Arthur Murray Chisholm and originally published in 1911. The story is set in the fictional town of Wind River, located in the American West during the late 1800s. The main character, Jim Lacy, is a tough cowboy who takes on the role of the boss of a cattle ranch in Wind River. Jim Lacy is a skilled cowboy who has worked on several ranches throughout his life. When he arrives in Wind River, he is offered the job of the boss of the Double Cross Ranch, which is owned by a wealthy businessman named John Selkirk. Jim quickly becomes the leader of the ranch and is respected by all of the cowboys who work there. However, Jim's job becomes more difficult when a rival rancher named Bill Sneed starts causing trouble for the Double Cross Ranch. Sneed is determined to take over Selkirk's land and will stop at nothing to achieve his goal. Jim must use all of his skills as a cowboy and a leader to protect the ranch and its workers from Sneed's attacks.Throughout the book, Jim also finds himself falling in love with Selkirk's daughter, Helen. However, their relationship is complicated by the fact that Helen is engaged to another man. Jim must navigate his feelings for Helen while also dealing with the challenges of being the boss of Wind River. The Boss of Wind River is a classic Western novel that explores themes of loyalty, courage, and love. Chisholm's vivid descriptions of the American West and its people bring the story to life, making it a must-read for fans of the Western genre. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
