THE BLIGHT They didn't come back dead. They came back... growing. In the rain-soaked hills of western Ireland, the quiet village of Boghennis receives an unexpected delivery. Forty sacks of seed potatoes - dropped by an unmarked lorry in the dead of night, with no note, no invoice, and no explanation.
They look like a blessing. They are a curse.
The potatoes are wrong - mottled purple, unnaturally warm, oozing amber sap that smells of rot and something alive. When the villagers eat them, the sickness begins slowly: fever, burning skin, veins blackening into root-like patterns beneath the surface. Then the fever turns to rage. And then - the dead do not stay dead.
They rise changed. Their skin hardening to bark. Their limbs twisted into something half-human, half-plant. They do not run. They do not tire. They simply grow - spreading, connecting, taking root in the very earth of the village. Shooting them doesn't work. Cutting them only makes them grow back. Jason Kennedy - an ex-firefighter returned home to heal - and Martin Morton, the village mechanic, stand between the infected and the outside world. They learn the impossible truth: this was no accident. Boghennis was a test. The blight is a weapon - engineered in a secret facility disguised as a farm, designed to rewrite all life into something else entirely.
With fire as their only weapon, the two men must fight through the growing horde to destroy the source before the blight spreads across the globe. But some things, once planted, cannot be unrooted. And the harvest has only just begun.
