Blessed Catherine LaBoure: Daughter of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul 1806-1876 is a biography written by Edmond Crapez. The book tells the story of Catherine LaBoure, a French nun who was born in 1806 and joined the Daughters of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul at the age of 22. Catherine is known for her visions of the Virgin Mary and her role in the creation of the Miraculous Medal, a popular devotional item in the Catholic Church. The book begins by describing Catherine's childhood and early life, including her family's struggles during the French Revolution. It then moves on to her time as a novice and her experiences with the Virgin Mary, who she claimed appeared to her three times. The book also covers Catherine's work as a nurse during the cholera epidemic in Paris and her involvement in the creation of the Miraculous Medal.Throughout the book, Crapez provides historical context for Catherine's life and the events that shaped it. He also includes quotes from Catherine's own writings and letters, as well as accounts from those who knew her. The book concludes with Catherine's death in 1876 and her eventual beatification by the Catholic Church in 1933.Overall, Blessed Catherine LaBoure: Daughter of Charity of Saint Vincent de Paul 1806-1876 is a detailed and informative biography of a significant figure in Catholic history. It provides insight into Catherine's life and the religious and social context in which she lived, making it a valuable resource for anyone interested in the history of the Catholic Church or the lives of religious figures. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
