Black Beauty Young Folks' Edition is a classic novel written by Anna Sewell. It tells the story of a black horse named Black Beauty, who narrates his own life experiences. The novel follows Black Beauty's life from his birth and early years as a colt, to his life as a carriage horse, and his eventual retirement in the countryside. Throughout the novel, Black Beauty faces many challenges, including cruel treatment from some of his owners, but also experiences kindness and love from others. The novel is written in an engaging and accessible style, making it suitable for young readers. It is a timeless tale of animal welfare and the importance of treating all creatures with kindness and respect. There was one man, I thought, if he would buy me, I should be happy. He was not a gentleman. He was rather a small man, but well made, and quick in all his motions. I knew in a moment, by the way he handled me, that he was used to horses; he spoke gently, and his gray eye had a kindly, cheery look in it. It may seem strange to say--but it is true all the same--that the clean, fresh smell there was about him made me take to him; no smell of old beer and tobacco, which I hated, but a fresh smell as if he had come out of a hayloft. He offered twenty-three pounds for me; but that was refused, and he walked away. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
