The Books of Chronicles in Relation to the Pentateuch and the Higher Criticism: Five Lectures is a book by Arthur Charles Hervey, first published in 1892. The book contains a series of lectures that explore the relationship between the Books of Chronicles and the Pentateuch, as well as the criticisms and theories of higher criticism. The lectures examine the historical and literary context of the Books of Chronicles, which are a series of texts in the Old Testament that cover the history of Israel from the time of Adam to the Babylonian exile. Hervey explores how the Books of Chronicles relate to the Pentateuch, which is the first five books of the Old Testament that contain the laws and teachings of Moses. In addition, Hervey discusses the higher criticism, which is a method of biblical criticism that seeks to understand the historical and cultural context of the Bible through analysis of its language, authorship, and composition. He examines how higher criticism has been applied to the Books of Chronicles and the Pentateuch, and evaluates the criticisms and theories that have been put forward.Overall, The Books of Chronicles in Relation to the Pentateuch and the Higher Criticism: Five Lectures is a scholarly work that provides a detailed analysis of the relationship between the Books of Chronicles and the Pentateuch, as well as an exploration of the criticisms and theories of higher criticism. It is a valuable resource for scholars and students of biblical studies, as well as anyone interested in the history and interpretation of the Old Testament. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
