A washed-up bestselling author needs one last hit. The book doctor sent to save his career may be committing the crimes before he writes them.
George is bitter.
As he should be.
Once a household name, he is now the kind of author people politely describe as formerly bestselling. His latest manuscript is going nowhere. His life isn't doing much better.
Then his publisher sends Liam.
A book doctor is supposed to fix pacing, patch plot holes, and rescue endings that don't work.
Liam's methods are considerably more hands-on.
He's young, ambitious, annoyingly good at his job-and suddenly George's book is getting better.
Much better.
Then George begins noticing something strange about Liam's ideas.
They have a tendency to happen.
George has spent years insisting he would do anything for another bestseller.
Apparently, he should have been more specific.
Because Liam may have found the perfect formula for writing crime fiction.
And George has finally found the book that could save his career.
The problem with getting exactly what you want is that someone eventually sends the bill.
A dark psychological thriller about literary ambition, obsession, and the very bad things writers can justify in the name of a better ending.
