The Big Yankee: The Life of Carlson of the Raiders is a biography written by Michael Blankfort about the life and career of Evans Carlson, a decorated Marine Corps officer who led the Carlson's Raiders during World War II. The book delves into Carlson's childhood, his time at the United States Naval Academy, and his experiences during his military service, including his time in China and his leadership of the Raiders in the Pacific theater. Blankfort also explores Carlson's personal life, including his marriage and family, and his post-war career as a businessman and political activist. The book offers a comprehensive look at the life of one of the most prominent figures in the history of the Marine Corps, and provides insights into the challenges and triumphs of military leadership during a time of war. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
