I never thought much about dying. Before my experience, I spent much of my time researching family genealogy, tracing the lives of those who came before me, yet I never once stopped to consider my own passing. Like many people, I believed in God, but I did not dwell on what happens after this life ends. I was busy living-helping others, staying active, and filling my days with purpose. I had enough energy for two people. Then, in December, everything changed. My heart went into third-degree block, and I lost my pulse-not once, but three times. What I experienced during that time is something I cannot fully explain, but I also cannot deny. It was not fear.
It was not darkness.
It was peace. At first, I kept it to myself. I questioned whether what I saw was real or simply my mind trying to make sense of what was happening. But over time and through an unexpected moment of confirmation, I came to believe that what I experienced was more than imagination. Since that day, I have not been the same. Physically, I am still recovering. I now have a pacemaker, and my energy is not what it once was. Even simple things can leave me tired. But the greater change is something deeper-
Something harder to put into words. At times, I feel as though I am still connected to what I experienced... as if I am standing somewhere between here and the Gateway to Heaven. I do not claim to have all the answers. I can only share what I experienced as honestly as I can. My hope is simple: that these words bring comfort, ease fear, and open hearts to the possibility that there is something more beyond this life. God never asks us to walk the journey alone.
