The Bertrams is a novel written by Anthony Trollope, first published in 1859. The story revolves around the Bertram family, who live in the English countryside. The patriarch of the family, Mr. Bertram, is a wealthy landowner who has three children: two sons, George and Henry, and a daughter, Caroline. The novel explores the relationships between the family members and their friends, as well as their struggles with love, money, and social status. George, the eldest son, is a gambler and womanizer who is in debt and trying to win the affection of a wealthy heiress. Henry, the younger son, is a successful lawyer who falls in love with a woman from a lower social class. Caroline, the daughter, is courted by two suitors, one of whom is a wealthy but unscrupulous man.Throughout the novel, Trollope examines the themes of class, love, and morality, and the ways in which these factors impact the lives of the Bertram family and their acquaintances. The Bertrams is a classic example of Victorian literature, and is considered one of Trollope's most accomplished works. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
