Beloved Crusader: Lawrence F. Flick, Physician is a biography of Lawrence F. Flick, a prominent physician and public health advocate in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The book is written by Ella M. E. Flick, his daughter, and provides a detailed account of his life and work.Flick was born in 1856 and grew up in Pennsylvania. He studied medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and later became a professor of medicine at the same institution. Flick was a pioneer in the field of tuberculosis research and treatment, and he was instrumental in the establishment of the National Tuberculosis Association (now the American Lung Association). The book covers Flick's many accomplishments, including his work on the development of the tuberculin skin test, his advocacy for fresh air and sunlight as treatments for tuberculosis, and his efforts to educate the public about the disease. Flick was also a philanthropist and supported many charitable causes throughout his life.Beloved Crusader is a tribute to Flick's legacy and his impact on public health. It offers a fascinating glimpse into the life of a man who dedicated his career to improving the lives of others. The book is well-researched and includes many photographs and personal anecdotes that bring Flick's story to life.
