Believe Me, Xantippe: A Comedy In Four Acts is a play written by Frederick Ballard and first published in 1918. The play follows the story of a successful businessman named John Weatherford who is struggling to maintain his marriage to his wife, Xantippe. Despite his best efforts, Xantippe is constantly dissatisfied with their life together and is always looking for ways to improve it. When John's business partner, Tom, comes to visit, he suggests that John take a trip to Europe to clear his head and gain some perspective. While John is away, Xantippe decides to take matters into her own hands and enlists the help of a spiritualist to improve their marriage. However, when John returns, he is shocked to find that Xantippe has changed dramatically and is no longer the woman he married. The play explores themes of marriage, communication, and the dangers of trying to change someone else. With witty dialogue and colorful characters, Believe Me, Xantippe is a humorous and engaging play that will entertain and delight audiences. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
