This musical coloring book is the first volume in a series that visualizes music from Béla Bartók's Mikrokosmos. Each piece is displayed in a graphical notation, using different shapes for each hand. This volume contains pieces 1-36 of Mikorokosmos. In addition to being a fun activity for coloring the notes by voice, pitch or however you want, the graphical scores can be used to learn more about the structure of the compositions. In each piece, Bartók highlights a different compositional technique: unisons, parallel and contrary motion, repetition, reflection, and imitation. These graphic scores help the student to see such patterns and how they relate to traditional music notation.
