As the first wife of future Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall, Vivian stood beside him during the earliest and most challenging years of his fight for justice. While Thurgood pursued his legal career, Vivian worked multiple jobs to help pay for his law school tuition and supported the movement by organizing and working with fellow civil rights activists. Her belief in equality and justice helped sustain their shared dream of challenging racial injustice in America.
