How do you find a way past abuse? How do you get through the trauma and come out on the other side?
Behind Closed Doors takes readers on a woman's lifelong quest to find herself despite the adversities that life threw her way. It's a story of overcoming personal hardships and finding hope, inner strength and empowerment. After enduring emotional and verbal abuse, and debilitating depression for years, she will finally find the answers that change her life and help her break free from her pain and discover the resilience she never knew she had. This heartwarming journey tells the story of how perseverance and the support of others can make a life altering difference even in the most trying circumstances. Follow her through the trials and triumphs of healing.
I found myself engrossed in Carol's story from the get-go. It is a compelling book about strength, love, friendship, and overcoming adversity. Carol's narrative voice is approachable, steady, and wise, and she gets readers invested right from the beginning. The experiences she describes are captivating, emotional, astonishing, and relatable, and the lessons they teach are empowering and informative. I can't say enough positive things about the content, and I'm excited for more readers to learn about her story.

I could feel her heart breaking so many times, and I could hear the same thoughts I've had echoed throughout. Why don't we leave toxic relationships when we know we should? Why can't we control our ups and downs? Why can't we seem to keep it all together like we desperately want to? It's after a lot of pain and self-realization (plus therapy and mood stabilizers!) that we finally feel a sense of
normalcy, strength, and even a little belief in ourselves again. Carol's memoir does more than just telling her life story. It's letting people know that there are answers, there is
help, and there is hope.
