In the other reality, operators and fixers navigate the space between old power and new. Criminal violence still exists, but it is no longer the most effective tool. The real authority now belongs to systems that never threaten, never rage, and never admit they are choosing anything at all. They process. They optimize. They classify. They remove people without ever touching them.
Between these worlds stands a single fault line: time.
Modern power depends on momentum-on people correcting themselves, complying quickly, and moving on schedule. What the system cannot tolerate is not rebellion, but delay. Not protest, but hesitation.
