Some summers change you forever.
For a little girl named Bean, the best summers are the ones spent on Grandma and Grandpa's farm, where the days feel bigger, the grass is soft under bare feet, and every morning holds a brand-new adventure.
Over one unforgettable summer, Bean and her faithful dog, Patches, discover everything the farm has to offer. She learns to milk a cow (and accidentally milks Grandpa's boot!), makes biscuits in Grandma's warm kitchen, outsmarts a ruthless rooster named Duke, hunts fireflies at dusk, and finds the quiet magic of the creek behind the barn.
But along the way, Bean learns something even bigger than how a farm works. She learns what it means to work hard, to belong somewhere, and to be loved every single day.
Told with warmth and gentle humor, Bean's Summer with Grandma and Grandpa celebrates the joys of childhood and the special bond between grandparents and grandchildren. With its cozy storytelling and charming illustrations, it is the kind of book families read together and keep for years.
Perfect as a read-aloud for ages 6 to 8 and a wonderful first chapter book for independent readers ages 8 to 10, it makes a treasured gift for birthdays, holidays, and everyday snuggles.
Bean's Summer with Grandma and Grandpa is the first book in the Bean Basket Stories, a heartwarming chapter book series following a spirited little girl named Bean and her faithful dog, Patches, through the simple joys of family, hard work, and growing up.
Come along with Bean. The best days are the simple ones.
