The Battle of Life is a love story written by the English novelist Charles Dickens. Dr. Jeddler, a good natured widower lives in a village in England with his two daughters Grace, Marion, and their servants Clemency Newcome and Ben Britain. Jeddler's ward Albert Heathfield is betrothed to his younger daughter Marion. A shameful incident of Marion allegedly eloped with another man on a night was witnessed by Clemency, eventually she ran away from the house and did not return. Albert is now married with Grace.
