Barrels sent to the Caribbean island of Grenada aren't just full of presents. Families share love, hope, and say I miss you through this special tradition.

This colorful picture book explores Grenada's barrel tradition, introducing young readers to Caribbean culture, emigration, and how families stay connected across oceans.

In the culture of the Caribbean island of Grenada, a wonderful tradition exists among those who have emigrated overseas: packing barrels to send back home to their relatives in Grenada. Barrels are a celebration and a gift. They're for rolling down hills and growing gardens. For remembering one's history and identity--and never losing touch with family members who have moved far away.

This spirited picture book follows the magical cycle of this cultural object, which celebrates community values and sustainability.

Caribbean author-illustrator Stacey Byer shares this precious Grenadian tradition of barrel gifting through vibrant flowing illustrations, perfect for young readers.
