The Baptist Standard Hymnal with Responsive Readings: A New Book for All Services is a book compiled by Mrs. A. M. Townsend. It is a collection of hymns and responsive readings that are suitable for use in various services within the Baptist denomination. The book contains a wide range of hymns, from traditional to contemporary, and includes both well-known favorites and lesser-known gems. The responsive readings are designed to be used in conjunction with the hymns and are intended to help facilitate a more interactive and participatory worship experience. The book is intended for use by Baptist congregations and is a valuable resource for pastors, worship leaders, and church musicians. Overall, The Baptist Standard Hymnal with Responsive Readings is a comprehensive and useful resource for anyone involved in Baptist worship.1924. From the preface: The compiling of a Hymnal, which will interpret God to the people and the response of the human soul back to God is a momentous and sacred task, and in attempting to bring to our churches a book that will meet the needs of all, we have put into this effort our very souls and blood as it were, not one time forgetting that we cannot take one step without the Guiding Hand of our Father in Heaven. Singing is worship and brings happiness, joy and peace to the individual, both heightening his intellectuality and spirituality. It is to the end, therefore, that the people may be edified and God glorified, that The Baptist Standard Hymnal is compiled. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
