One in four people is born into the entertainment business. It's not a choice; show offs like me have an inbuilt subconscious need to hog the limelight. My call to perform didn't come from Broadway or the West End. It was borne out of a simple need to survive. This book is an honest and darkly funny account of my fictional journey from innocent toddler to self-destructive performing balloon and the subsequent search to reclaim the unbroken boy within.Maybe you know a good soul who is trapped in a cycle of self-humiliation and hurt, someone who can't help drifting from one self-made disaster to another. The Balloon was written for them. For the non-balloons this book is inspirational, nostalgic and funny as f*ck. It's probably the most honest book of fiction ever. A must read for all Mancunians.
