What is a ball python?The ball python (King of the Pythons), also known as the ball python, is a small to medium-sized constrictor snake from the family Pythonidae. The name ball python comes from their natural defensive behavior: when threatened, they roll up into a tight ball and stick their head in the middle. This instinctive reaction protects them from wild predators and is a key feature that sets them apart from other pythons.
Physical characteristicsBall pythons are relatively small compared to other members of the python family.
