The book also highlights the crucial contribution of the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS), whose members operated the machines under immense pressure. Through their stories, Koorm reveals how women from diverse backgrounds demonstrated remarkable teamwork and resilience at the codebreaking sites.
After the war, Eastcote became home to GCHQ before the organization moved to Cheltenham. The site later played a variety of roles, including involvement in Cold War counterintelligence operations.
