Set in a military backdrop, Sergeant CRAIG DONNELLY, a paratrooper in the esteemed 82nd Airborne Division, discovers an abandoned infant, barely hours old, on the fringe of Fort Bragg's Sicily Drop Zone.
The baby, a product of young black and white teenagers, begins her life in a precarious environment. The young mother, having no hope for herself, feels her only recourse is to give birth and abandon her treasure.
Craig's adoptive brother and life-long friend, RICK JOHNSON, and his boss, Lieutenant DEBRA SIMMONS, secure immediate help for the infant at an Army hospital. Craig's primary mission is to adopt BABY JANE, and his second objective is to find Miss Special to marry and adopt the baby. The officer becomes his logical choice. As sparks fly between the officer and the sergeant, they must overcome intense odds: fraternization rules and preventing the baby from disappearing in the adoption agencies. The story ends with JANEY's thoughts and impressions.
