An Introduction To The Birds Of Australia is a comprehensive guide written by John Gould, a renowned ornithologist and artist. The book was first published in 1848 and contains detailed descriptions and illustrations of the various bird species found in Australia. The book is divided into two volumes, with the first volume covering the general characteristics of birds, their anatomy, and classification, while the second volume focuses specifically on the birds of Australia. The book contains over 600 illustrations, many of which were hand-colored by Gould himself. The illustrations are accompanied by detailed descriptions of each bird's physical characteristics, habitat, behavior, and distribution. Gould's descriptions are based on his own observations as well as those of other naturalists and collectors who had explored Australia before him. In addition to the illustrations and descriptions, the book also includes a glossary of ornithological terms and a list of the scientific names of the birds discussed in the book. The book is considered a landmark in the study of Australian birds and is still widely used by ornithologists and bird enthusiasts today. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
