Alfie is full of excitement - today is his very first riding lesson! From putting on his helmet and boots, to meeting his pony Misty, to learning how to mount, sit tall, walk on, and even try trotting, Alfie discovers the joy (and a few wobbles) of becoming a real rider.
With warm illustrations, gentle humour, and easy-to-follow storytelling, Alfie Learns to Ride takes young readers step by step through what happens in a child's first riding lesson. Along the way, kids learn about:
- The importance of safety gear and confidence.
- Meeting and caring for a pony.
- Basic riding skills: leading, mounting, walking, trotting, and more.
- The fun and magic of building a bond with a horse.
This charming picture book is an ideal introduction for children aged 5-9 who are just starting out at riding school - or dreaming about their very first ride. Perfect for pony-mad kids, beginner equestrians, or families looking to encourage a love of horses.
Why you'll love it:
- Easy, encouraging story that mirrors a child's first riding experiences.
- A wonderful way to prepare nervous beginners for what to expect.
- Makes a thoughtful gift for horse-loving children.
Whether read aloud at bedtime or shared before that exciting first lesson, Alfie Learns to Ride will inspire young riders to climb into the saddle with confidence and a smile.
