The loss of his maternal grandfather (his Papa and best friend) to cancer in September 2020, and the stay at home order due to the COVID pandemic, affected him greatly. It made him reflect on the world around him and triggered the need to share his thoughts with others.

RJ shares a portion of the proceeds with charities of his choice, and the community that has given him acceptance and validation. RJ lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with his parents, younger brother and his Chi-weenie, Coco.
