For long, the origins of Acholi and Lango have been formally documented and taught in schools as unrelated. However, as spelt out in this book, there are indisputable proofs that the two groups actually have a common origin. An analysis of the groups' key aspects, especially oral traditions, linguistic characteristics, and cultural norms, reveals stunning details of deep Acholi-Lango connection that the previous studies have overlooked.
Besides, Jack Herbert Driberg, the author of the 1923 book, The Lango: A Nilotic Tribe of Uganda, is credited for being the first researcher to prove the link although subsequent authors like Bishop Angelo Tarantino and Julius Peter Odwe have insisted on separate origins.
