Azarias. A Sermon Held Forth In A Quakers Meeting offers a satirical glimpse into the religious fervor and social tensions of its time. This unique work, attributed to an anonymous author, presents a fictional sermon delivered in a Quaker meeting, purportedly inspired by a vision and filled with unconventional requests. The text includes a prayer that satirically calls for the dismantling of the Church and University, juxtaposed with blessings for tripe and custard.
This short work provides valuable insight into the religious landscape and the debates that shaped early Quakerism and the broader religious environment in England.
