In this richly illustrated autobiography, acclaimed artist Ayyad Alnimer reflects on a lifetime devoted to art, creativity, and self-discovery. Beginning with his childhood in Egypt, he recounts the formative experiences that sparked his artistic vision, the challenges that interrupted his path, and the determination that led him to pursue a career in the visual arts.
Through vivid personal memories, Alnimer traces his journey from Cairo to Amman, California, and back across the Arab world, revealing how migration, cultural exchange, family, and artistic experimentation shaped his evolving creative identity. Along the way, he recalls pivotal exhibitions, influential mentors, relationships with fellow artists, and encounters that transformed both his life and work.
More than a memoir, Pulse of the Journey is a meditation on memory, longing, resilience, and the enduring power of artistic expression. The narrative is accompanied by a substantial selection of artworks spanning five decades, offering readers a visual record of Alnimer's development from early monoprints to later explorations of abstraction, movement, music, and the human figure.
Part personal history, part artistic testament, this volume invites readers into the inner world of an artist whose work has been exhibited internationally and collected by major cultural institutions. It is a story of perseverance, renewal, and an unwavering commitment to the creative spirit.
