Every student pilot is told what to do. Very few are told why, and the difference shows up at the worst possible moment: on a warm afternoon at a high field when the airplane will not climb, or on the turn from base to final when a little bottom rudder feels like the obvious correction.

Aerodynamics is usually taught as a list of facts to be memorized before a test and then set aside. Stall speed becomes a number on a dial instead of an angle the wing reaches. Density altitude, trim and load factor stay as separate rules rather than consequences of a handful of relationships that could be rebuilt in a minute. The result is a pilot who can pass the test and still be surprised by the airplane, and an instructor who can demonstrate a maneuver but struggles to explain it.
