Ava used to think you had to travel across the world to help animals.
But this time, the adventure begins close to home.
When Ava takes her best friend Renate to visit a local animal shelter, the two teenagers discover a heartbreaking world filled with abandoned dogs, injured cats, and Teddy, a German Shepherd who can no longer walk.
As they meet animals searching for loving families, experience unexpected moments of hope, and discover new passions, Ava and Renate begin to realize that you don't have to go far to make a real difference in someone's life.
Inspired by real-life situations from animal shelters, this touching and engaging story introduces young readers to animal adoption, volunteering, inclusion, and animal welfare.
An emotional and inspiring story that shows how, with a little imagination, determination, and a lot of heart, anyone can give an animal a second chance.
