Australiana: Or My Early Life is a memoir written by Richmond Henty in 1886. The book chronicles the author's experiences growing up in Australia during the mid-19th century. Henty was born in 1831 in Tasmania, which was then known as Van Diemen's Land. His family was one of the first to settle in the area, and Henty spent his childhood exploring the rugged wilderness of the island. The book describes Henty's adventures as a young boy, including his encounters with the indigenous people of Tasmania, his experiences hunting and fishing in the wilderness, and his observations of the unique flora and fauna of the region. Henty also writes about the challenges of living in a remote, isolated area, and the struggles his family faced in establishing a successful farm.Throughout the book, Henty provides a fascinating glimpse into the early history of Australia, and his writing captures the spirit of adventure and exploration that characterized the era. The book is filled with vivid descriptions of the landscapes and people of Tasmania, and is a valuable historical document that offers insight into the life and times of one of Australia's earliest settlers. Overall, Australiana: Or My Early Life is an engaging and informative read that will appeal to anyone with an interest in Australian history or the natural world. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
