A newspaper assignment sends one unfortunate reporter farther than any correspondent ever expected to travel-straight to Hades.
When a journalist for the New York Universe receives what appears to be an order to Go to Hell, a misunderstanding soon becomes the beginning of an extraordinary journey beyond the River Styx. There he discovers an underworld populated not merely by sinners and shades, but by some of history's most famous-and infamous-figures. Among them are members of the Asbestos Society of Sinners, whose infernal gatherings provide ample opportunity to debate everything from politics and money to marriage, morality, history, and the peculiar habits of humanity.
As the reporter explores the playground of Pluto, he encounters Charon, Satan, Boss Tweed, Henry VIII, Methuselah, Noah, Adam, and an assortment of other celebrated inhabitants of the hereafter, each ready to offer a decidedly unconventional perspective on the world of the living. Filled with absurd conversations, historical parody, political jokes, social commentary, and irreverent excursions through biblical and legendary history, Lawrence Daniel Fogg's The Asbestos Society of Sinners is a mischievous satirical fantasy in which Hell becomes the perfect vantage point from which to laugh at mankind.
