ARE YOU SAVED?
Most people are torches-unlit and full of promise and potential. They have never given one ray of light to dispel the darkness. They have never guided the steps of one weary Christian. They have never driven the heathen darkness from any room. Their life has never warmed the heart of a single believer. They have much to give, but give nothing. Many of you are flameless torches-always promising and never producing. What are you going to say when you stand before God on Judgment Day? What will happen when you must give an account for your life and all the unused opportunities and resources for His glory? Are you going to hear, Well done, good and faithful servant? If you are not serving the kingdom of God, you are not in the kingdom of God. Why? Jesus said, Good and faithful servant! A curse on anyone who is lax in doing the LORD's work! (Jeremiah 48:10, NIV).
Other people are torches, partially consumed. They are smoked and stained, and under the flaming heat, they become burnt and twisted. They know the touch of consuming fire, but only for a while. They struggle through wilderness, affliction, abnormalities, and adversity, but only for a while. They burn sparingly but inadequately. None of them give their all to fight in a world covered in the asphalt of darkness. These people refute and refuse to give their all to the God of all. They meet the bare requirements and give minutes when hours are desperately demanded. Some think they are doing something, but are doing much of nothing. These people use their gifts and talents occasionally, casually, barely, and miserly. In this world's most desperate hour, these people sit with their talents and possessions, which could help spread the glorious, glowing gospel.
Others are torches that burn to the socket-they burn to the last ash. They are totally focused and consumed by the consuming fire. They give their all and dispel the hours of darkness to the nth degree. They preach to the dark catacombs of the soul, and it transforms into a glowing, radiant cathedral. These torches are lighthouses that faithfully flame the shores. Even if guidance means death, these torches still flame the Gospel of Jesus Christ. These people are a flame ablaze in the New Testament church.
Their radiant beams transform the dark, dreary caves of the occult into altars of praise and worship. They transform gloom into glory because they are willing to burn to ash. They turn dawn and dark into the bloom and beauty of life. By their light, lost souls stumble their way to repentance. By the candlelight of their smiles, the broken are comforted. These torches don't just wear Jesus pieces, but have the divine, penetrating Personality, Jesus Christ in their hearts. These torches are consumed with a holy passion and will hold nothing back. The eternal flame of God is blazing in their bones. The death of one of these torches is a passport to the gates of glory.
These torches shine with the brilliance of the sun and a diamond-glistening, golden-glow moon. These torches are soul-winners and shall shine in the heavens eternally with the brilliance of the stars. A star can't shine until it's in the dark, so stop whining and start shining. God has calibrated your torch to shine on the lost. Let your torch shine, whether you're a feeble glow in a dark alley or glow like a laser beam that can cut the gates of hell off at the hinge. Whether you are a greater light or a lesser light-shine! Let your light shine where you are. Let the light of the glorious gospel flow through you so that people will see Jesus Christ in a world covered in darkness. If you want to shine with brilliance and the glory of God forever, be a kingdom soul-winner. LIGHT BEGETS LIFE!
