The sub-field of hydrology and meteorology that focuses on the water and energy transfer between the surface of land and the lower atmosphere is known as hydrometeorology. It also deals with the water cycle and water budget related problems. It is concerned with the determination of rainfall possibilities, region and time distribution of rainfall, and evaporation.
