Sadie's psychokinetic powers, known to the rest of the world as anomalies, have always caused her nothing but trouble, despite her best efforts to keep them under wraps. When she trusts the wrong person with her secret, she ends up trapped in a nightmarish hospital as a test subject for Dr Jones' experimental new treatment designed to strip her of her powers. It's funny how losing something tends to make you realise just how much you want it back. Among her fellow inmates are Lee (a clumsy psychokineticist with dubious allegiances), Angel (a quirky telepath who doesn't like communicating the normal way) and Nadine (a feisty social justice advocate with the ability to fly - a.k.a. the only good thing in this godforsaken place). Sadie never has been one to blithely accept her fate. After repeated misbehaviour and countless armfuls of sedatives she is sent to see a therapist who will either be the key to her escape or her undoing - but when the stakes are this high, what's the difference? As she plots her escape and finds a desperate kind of solace in Nadine's arms, she begins to wonder if they can overcome society's prejudices and learn to accept their powers together. After all, psychokinesis is a pretty damn cool ability. Anomalous is an erotic sci-fi romance novel exploring what it means to be different in a society with such a strict definition of normal.
