Excerpt: ... OF THE THIRTEENTH ANNUAL MEETING OF THE COLORADO BAR ASSOCIATION HELD AT THE BROADMOOR. COLORADO, SPRINGS, COLORADO. FIRST DAY. AFTERNOON SESSION, Friday, July 1, 1910. The meeting was called to order on the veranda at the Broadmoor, at two o'clock p. m., by First Vice-President Henry C. Hall. On motion, the reading of the minutes was dispensed with. Vice-President Hall: The next in the regular order of business would be the annual address by our president. It was utterly impossible for me to undertake, on the few days' notice which were given me, to discharge that duty; and moreover where one who from the foundation of the Association has been one of its chief supporters and most active members is called away by death immediatelybefore the meeting, while in office, it seems to me inappropriate that anyone else should undertake to address the Association in the place of that official. But in view of the fact that our president died in office, in view of the fact that despite his laborious professional engagements he throughout the lifetime of this Association has been most liberal in that unrequited service which the work of an association of this kind calls for, and in view of the fact that to him perhaps more than to any other among us is due such measure of success as the Association has attained, it might be suitable if we devoted a time at this stage of our proceedings to reminiscences of his work among us and his work at the bar, and to a brief tribute to his character. The chair would also suggest, in view of the fact that Mr. Hoyt died in office, that a committee be now appointed to prepare resolutions, and to report before the final adjournment of this meeting.
