Anna Bolena: A Lyric Tragedy, In Two Acts is an opera composed by Gaetano Donizetti in 1830. The libretto, written by Felice Romani, is based on the historical figure of Anne Boleyn, the second wife of King Henry VIII of England. The opera tells the story of Anne's rise to power, her marriage to Henry, and her eventual downfall and execution. The music is characterized by Donizetti's signature bel canto style, with beautiful melodies and vocal fireworks. The role of Anna Bolena is considered one of the most challenging in the operatic repertoire, requiring a soprano with both dramatic and lyrical abilities. The opera has been performed numerous times since its premiere and is still a favorite among opera enthusiasts today. Donizetti's Anna Bolena is a powerful and emotional work that captures the tumultuous history of one of England's most infamous queens. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
