Across the centuries, fragments of vanished worlds call out to us. Ancient Fragments gathers the scarce surviving writings of Sanchoniatho, Berossus, Abydenus, Megasthenes, and Manetho-voices that shaped the earliest chronicles of civilisation. This remarkable anthology offers seekers of ancient historical texts and classical literature a rare window into the beliefs, philosophies, and histories of the ancient Near East and Mediterranean. Here, the Hermetic Creed, the Oracles of Zoroaster, and the Periplus of Hanno stand alongside the Tyrian Annals and the Laterculus of Eratosthenes, illuminating the minds that first sought to understand humanity's place in the cosmos. Curated by Isaac Preston Cory, this ancient writings collection is an indispensable resource for scholars of ancient history, students of classical antiquity studies, and anyone fascinated by the origins of early civilisation history. The volume's breadth invites comparative exploration, drawing connections between the writings of Sanchoniatho and the insights of other ancient philosophers. It is both a foundation for academic research and a treasure for collectors of rare classical literature anthologies. Republished by Alpha Editions in a careful modern edition, this volume preserves the spirit of the original while making it effortless to enjoy today - a heritage title prepared for readers and collectors alike.
